Perhaps it all began in 2015 on the oceanfront at Long Beach, New York, when I photographed a memorial wall created by local families and children. A hurricane had taken almost everything away. There are countless films and television shows about New York. Like every city, it has both beautiful and darker sides — and quite often you can see both at the same time in exactly the same place. I am still moving slowly with the editing of the interview we recorded two days ago, so I will not write about that yet. If you come to New York and eventually get tired of wandering among skyscrapers, Central Park is an essential stop. The rectangular park is famous for many things, including its squirrels. Because I spent much of yesterday evening here during a fashion shoot, I thought I would write about the park today. Yesterday I also streamed a street musician live from near Central Park. Today I will try to show some of my favourite locations through photographs.

After interviewing Csaba Téglás, we returned to New York and got out of the car at the World Trade Center. Right beside the tower often called the Freedom Tower is a major transportation hub. From here you can take trains to New Jersey and connect to subway lines leading across New York. In many ways, the area functions as a second major centre after Times Square. I would divide a visit into four parts.

For almost three weeks, we have been actively working on a portrait photography exhibition about Hungarians who emigrated after the 1956 revolution. The time has come to summarise what we have accomplished so far. Something is always happening in New York, and you can run into a film shoot almost anywhere. Yesterday, after an interview, I took the subway down from northern Harlem into Manhattan. I decided to walk sixteen blocks to clear my head and organise the chaos surrounding the photography exhibition planned for 23 October. On 51st Street, directly in front of MoMA, I noticed a film crew preparing a scene. A grey-haired gentleman was leaning against a red vintage Porsche.

Yesterday I photographed Kayli, a New York fashion model. The story began two days earlier with the Bill Murray video I had posted on Instagram. She saw it and wrote to me because she was currently building her portfolio. She was contacting New York photographers whose style she liked and asking each of them to create one image of her in a natural environment. She did not want to spend money on the process.
