My Favourite Place in New Jersey

Seven days have passed since my last blog post, and I am already receiving messages asking what happened. :)

We have thrown ourselves completely into the interviews.

We travel constantly and document even more material because our goal is to create a highly professional photography and biographical exhibition here in Manhattan on 22 October.

I try to offer glimpses into New York life through live broadcasts.

I also create posters for people who have written to say they would love a good photograph of the city.

But now I finally have an hour to sit down and show you my favourite location on this side of New York.

Across the Hudson River from Midtown Manhattan, around thirty minutes away, are Newport and Hoboken.

Both are accessible via the PATH train.

On foot, the two areas are roughly one kilometre apart.

It is worth arriving early in the morning.

The PATH can be taken from 34 St–Herald Sq, and a single ride costs around 2.5 dollars.

If you are planning trips outside central New York, it is useful to load an additional 10–15 dollars onto your MetroCard.

The waterfront is mainly residential.

Still, the promenade has a distinct atmosphere of its own.

I tried to capture some of that in this video too.

At the end of the peninsula are three benches.

The view from there is beautiful.

One of my favourite photographs below was made at exactly this location, early on an October morning.

I emphasise October because the sunrise position changes throughout the year.

At that time of year, the sun rises almost directly behind One World Trade Center.

If we continue along the waterfront, after roughly fifteen minutes we reach the border between Newport and Hoboken.

There used to be a pier here.

Today, only the foundations and rows of old wooden piles remain.

Continuing further, we reach Hoboken Terminal.

If we walk through the station, we arrive at a beautiful park where Sinatra Drive begins.

The name tells you a great deal.

Frank Sinatra was born here in Hoboken.

His legend is preserved in many different ways throughout the neighbourhood.

In the middle of the promenade is Sinatra Park, built partly like a small island.

For children, it is almost a paradise.

There is a huge playground with hidden slides, sand areas and plenty of open space for running around.

Fourteen days have already passed, and we have done an enormous amount of work in the hope of creating something genuinely distinctive.
